This enticing 1977 Porsche 930 was given by Porsche to Hurley Haywood as a thank-you gift for his victory in the 1977 24 Hours of Le Mans, in which he drove a Porsche 936 to victory with Jürgen Barth and Jacky Ickx. Haywood is largely regarded as the finest American-born endurance racer, and took five victories in the 24 Hours of Daytona, as well as three at Le Mans, and two at the 12 Hours of Sebring. The 930, which was equipped from the factory with an adjustable boost knob and an electrical cutoff switch like those in Porsche factory racing cars, was further treated to two distinctive stripes on the corner of the front hood, in burgundy and gold, applied by Haywood when new.

In 1978, Haywood sold the 930 to the current owner, his good friend Chapman J. Root II. Mr. Root, who added the Porsche to his notable collection of sports cars, has cherished the 930 for the last 40 years, and it has covered a mere 57,100 miles from new.

This Porsche is stunningly presented in its original colors of Black over a Cork Leather sports-seat-equipped interior. The 930 was recently treated to an engine rebuild by noted Porsche technician David Glenn, who previously worked at both Ruf and Porsche Motorsport North America.
