Description

Chassis No. WP0CB2963RS465139

Engine No. 62P04216

Transmission No. 2002995

Based on the 964-generation 911 that debuted in 1993, the third-generation Speedster features a distinct convertible body style that echoed the famed 356 model offered between 1954 and 1959. The 964 introduced a larger 3.6-liter, air-cooled flat-six engine delivering an impressive 247 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. A G50 five-speed transaxle transmission propels the rear wheels of most 964 Speedsters, aided by a revised onboard computer, 17 inch staggered alloy wheels, and optional limited-slip differential. Sizable four-piston calipers and cross-ventilated rotors at each corner back a multilink independent suspension featuring MacPherson struts up front and semi-trailing arms at back. The 964 platform provided the second-generation 911 Speedster with superior performance and driving dynamics along with improved aesthetics over the previous version, while filling the gap between the comfortable Carrera C2 Cabriolet and track-focused Carrera RS. Although Porsche originally planned to build 3,000 examples of the 964 Speedster, by the end of production in 1994, only 936 had been created.

Of the 963 produced world-wide, only 409 964 Speedsters reached the U.S.-market and this exciting Guards Red example is one of them. Completed in Zuffenhausen in April 1993, this second-generation 911 Speedster features Porsche's ever engaging five-speed manual transmission and was smartly optioned with a performance-oriented limited-slip differential and comfort and convenience options like headlamp washers, air conditioning, and an on-board computer. Furthermore, to complement the exterior color the Black interior features Red leather accents behind the VDO gauges, on the shift knob, and parking brake handle, along with Red leather door pull handles and Red nylon pull-straps located on its RS-style door panels.

Purchase paperwork confirms initial ownership in California before acquisition by the current consignor on 30 September 1999 at 17,622 miles along with a move to the Dallas-Ft. Worth area. A tabulated maintenance history document created by the consignor details an extensive level of service during their 25 year long-term ownership. Twenty-seven separate service visits are recorded beginning in December 2000 with 18,500 miles on the odometer. As would be expected of a low-mileage Porsche with regular use, many record oil changes and fluid checks yet there are those entries with specialists in the Dallas-Ft.Worth area that delve deeper. In preparation for consignment the Speedster underwent an oil leak repair, small interior repairs and featured a dry ice under carriage cleaning. All told the maintenance history records just over $17,000 in servicing a testament to the owner's commitment and the expected longevity of a well-engineered air-cooled Porsche. At cataloging, this rare 964-generation Speedster features 43,929 miles and is offered with its trunk-mounted spare, books, and a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report.
