The 997 GT3 R was introduced at the end of 2010 and the first examples were delivered to clients just in time for the 2011 season. They were fitted with the 4-litre flat-six engine, its power increased to 600 bhp in 2012, a sequential six-speed gearbox and multi-link rear suspension. Every 997 GT3 R was equipped with an electric aero kit and a race-prepared car weighed just 1200 kg. It is worth remembering that these cars sold new for around 400 000 €. The highly impressive 997 GT3-R in the sale participated in the German Endurance Championship, VLN, in Pinta Racing colours. Benefitting from development in 2013, it was prepared and looked after by Manthey Racing GmbH, Porsche’s official preparer, during its early competition years. The technical passport that comes with the car records every race it took part in between 2012 and 2015, including Spa and the Nürburgring. The current owner acquired the car at the end of 2016, on the advice of close acquaintance Romain Dumas, the great Porsche connoisseur.
A talented driver, our owner took part at the wheel of this 997 GT3R in the championnat de France de la montagne, finishing the 2017 season as runner-up in series B. In 2019, he joined "R.D. Limited", the team set up by Dumas, in order to take part in this car in the Pikes Peak event, finishing with a good time despite difficult weather conditions. Little used in recent years, we note the car has only run for about ten hours since a major engine rebuild, which must be worth around 50 000 € given the performance of such an engine. The clutch will also be overhauled before the sale, so the car will technically be ready to race. Having spent its life in the hands of experts, both in terms of preparers and professional teams, this Porsche offers a remarkable opportunity to acquire one of the last naturally aspirated racing 911s, a machine with a fantastic performance promising a bright future as a collector’s piece.
