Following the launch of the 911/996, Porsche launched the GT3, the first 996 variant intended for the racetrack. Its 3.6 litre engine was derived from the GT1 and delivered 360bhp at 7,200rpm, offering 60 additional horsepower over the base 3.4 litre motor in the standard Carrera. It was also fitted with adjustable suspension and a unique body kit, including a dual-plane rear wing. The interior featured sports seats, whilst some of the interior trim was removed to keep weight down. Porsche also built a track only version of the GT3, dubbed the GT3 Club Sport. Only a handful of differences can be noted in comparison to the GT3, including the fitment of a full roll cage and a Nomex covered driver's seat with side airbags omitted. Whilst not generally intended for daily driving, this edition was track-ready in every aspect and able to compete in a number of racing series worldwide.

First registered on 30th June 2003, the fantastic Gen.II 996 GT3 on offer here is a UK market C16 car that was specified with the desirable Club Sport package. Including more track focused elements such as fixed back bucket seats, roll cage, fire extinguisher and the removal of the side airbags. Considered the most desirable specification, the car presents beautifully in the classic Porsche colour of Arctic Silver. The 3596cc six-cylinder engine sounds delightful and mated to a six-speed manual gearbox, this Porsche certainly travels with alacrity. Owned by a Porsche enthusiast, this very low mileage example comes with a significant amount of invoices including from Porsche Brooklands, as well as highly regarded specialists such as Ninemeister, Millbrooke and BS Motorsport. The vendor reports the car to run and drive extremely well and will be sorry to see it go having been its custodian for the past 11 years. Sadly, working abroad has meant he has had little opportunity to use this wonderful car. Last serviced in November 2023 with an MoT test certificate valid through November 2024, the car has added a mere 33 miles since, making the overall mileage an incredibly low 21,715 miles!

Supplied with a UK V5C registration document, many MoT test certificates and a file of receipts. Often overlooked, the 996 GT3 is a rare breed being very capable both on road and track, but also at low speeds around town. A car that not only does it all, it does it all extremely well! Consigned by Will Penrose.
