While the 993-generation GT2 was a necessary homologation special created to pave the way for faster Porsche 911 race cars, its 996-type successor was a pure road car. But not by any stretch was it to be considered merely a soft cruiser. Lighter than the contemporary, four-wheel-drive Turbo and sending a mighty 456 horsepower to the rear wheels only, this was every bit the driving enthusiast’s model.
The left-hand-drive example offered here was delivered to Germany on 1 August 2001 via Porsche Nürnberg-Fürth-Erlangen. The muscular bodywork was finished in Artic Silver while the interior was upholstered in black leather. This car’s accompanying service book indicates that it had moved to Monaco by 2009 before spending time on the outskirts of Paris, with stamps showing that maintenance was completed in Courbevoie, Levallois, and Neuilly.
Subsequently acquired by The Curated Collection, this car was sent for a service and exhaust rebuild with Kronos Porsche of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium in July 2022 at a cost of €4,470. At the time, the GT2 was noted as showing 47,201 kilometres. Very sparingly driven since, the odometer had risen only to 47,240 kilometres at the time of cataloguing. The fastest of all the 996 road cars, this GT2 is a fantastic prospect for any driving enthusiast.
