Description

1962 Porsche 356B Carrera 2
Chassis #121142 – Silver with Black Interior
History: Porsche factory Kardex shows this Carrera 2 being delivered new on August 1, 1962, from Porsche Stuttgart to Ben Pon, the Porsche distributor in Amersfoort, Holland. The original color was champagne yellow with a black interior. Options were stone guards for the front headlights and an outside mirror. There are two service records listed in February of 1963. For the last 15 years the car has been in a collection in Tokyo, Japan.
Condition: The car has been nicely repainted in silver. It is a remarkably original Carrera 2. Still with original floor pans, battery box, original upper body shell with vin# stampings in the front lid, the rear deck lid and in both doors. It still retains its matching numbers engine as delivered. The interior is original, including carpets, seat upholstery, dash, etc. This is quite a survivor Carrera 2 with no signs of accidents and it has been well maintained. Just had a detailed inspection and servicing by Bill Perrone at the Parts Shop in Huntington Beach, California, at a cost over $21,500. This included an engine out service, carburetor rebuild, starter and generator rebuild, a complete brake rebuild with new annular brake drums and calipers and numerous other detailed items. Also refinished wheels and new Vredstein tires. The engine compression and leak down are excellent, all within factory specifications. The engine pulls strong, does not smoke, the gearbox shifts as it should, and the brakes stop the car straight. This is an outstanding example of the very rare 4-cam Carrera 2.
Of Note: Very few Carrera 2s have survived as well as this one, still with original sheet metal, original floors, matching numbers engine, no accidents and nicely vetted and serviced. The original interior adds some charm and patina, in addition to being in very good condition; another sign of the limited use and great care this car has benefitted from over the years. It runs great and is ready for a new home.
