In 1968 the Peugeot 504 appears on the market. As the successor to the 404, it has the clear task of ensuring sales success in the medium-sized sedan segment. As with its predecessor, Pininfarina again provides a coupe and convertible. In March 1969, these variants are presented at the Geneva Motor Show. In that very first year, this white 504 rolled off the production line.

So we are talking about a very early example, from Belgium. With chrome bumpers and no unnecessary frills, the Peugeot looks like a very elegant convertible. With a modern engine with injection and a fairly modern interior for that time, it was an extremely sleek and fashionable car in those years.
The 504 convertible you see here is not a competition participant. At least, you can participate, but winning is not possible. The 504 looks fresh, but is above all a very nice driving car and that is how it was enjoyed. The body looks fine, but there are signs of wear and signs of age visible. No hugely disturbing things, but simply don't expect a new car. Once on the spot, the smile appears on the face soon enough. Three Jeager meters in front of you, the combination of the black upholstery with subtle chrome and aluminum details provide a classic, stylish look. Here too: new condition is not an issue, but it is a pleasant place to stay. Moreover: how many cars in this class are there in which you can enjoy yourself with four people! The convertible top keeps four people neatly dry if necessary, but there are also some signs of wear visible here.

Then the driving, which is where this 504 scores plus points. The smooth 1,796 cc measuring four-cylinder with injection delivers 97 hp and excels in flexibility. The chassis is comfortable and the steering fits perfectly. It is wonderful to turn on the excellently working heating on a fresh morning and enjoy the beautiful country roads openly. The 504 is also equipped with a tow bar, we already see a combination with a period-correct speed boat or classic motorcycle in front of us.

A very interesting car, this 504 convertible. Where coupés are regularly offered, a convertible is less often available. This 504 is ready for a new chapter, preferably one in which making kilometers is the common thread.
