Oltcit vehicles were completely developed by the French up until mid-1985 before various French components were replaces with Romanian ones. While the French engines were known for their problems, sales completely overturned once fitment of Romanian engines were used. The Club 11 was produced in an 11R, 11RL, 11RM or an 11RT with the only major difference being the fitment of spoilers, safety belts and other equipment, only fitted to distinguish them.
