The NSU Spider is a sports car produced by the German car brand NSU Motorenwerke AG from 1964 to 1967. It was the successor of the NSU Prinz, whose chassis was used as a basis for the Spider. The Spider was a convertible with a striking design, characterized by its short overhangs, long hood and low profile. The body was designed by Italian designer Bertone and was based on the NSU Sport Prinz concept shown at the Paris Motor Show. The car had a completely foldable fabric roof and a very low center of gravity, which resulted in excellent handling and driving characteristics. The NSU Spider was equipped with a 995 cc Wankel engine that produced 50 horsepower and allowed the car to reach a top speed of 150 km/h. The engine was coupled to a four-speed manual transmission and the car had front and rear disc brakes. Although the NSU Spider was not as popular as some of its contemporaries such as the Triumph Spitfire and the MG MGB, it is still appreciated for its excellent driving characteristics and innovative technology. A total of only 2,375 units were produced before production was discontinued in 1967, making the Spider a rare and sought-after car among collectors.
The cars on offer are part of a static collection that has been accumulated over the last 40 years. They are mainly in an unrestored, original but dusty condition. We have not tried to start any of the cars. We have been informed that the engines have been turned, on a regular basis, but the exact condition of the cars and the engines is unknown to us.
You can inspect the cars on the viewing days for which you have to make a reservation through our ticketshop - www.eventix.shop/xmxuc9fs.
