The first of the post-war Magnettes were shown to an eager world in 1953. Like the earlier pre-war Magnette, the car was aimed at the young sporting professional with a requirement for saloon accommodating motorcar. It incorporated all of the latest in construction techniques with the use of a monocoque body. Front suspension was by wishbone with coil springs and the engine was a B series BMC unit with twin carburetors. The car was sumptuously equipped with full leather interior and fine wooden dashboard and door cappings. It was advertised as being fitted with a heater, something that was still a selling feature in the early 1950's. The overall package was too good to miss and the Magnette outsold all other Abingdon produced saloons.
