We are delighted to present for sale this fully restored 1959 1600cc MGA in outstanding condition and with just two previous owners. With extensive documentation, the car has a rich history and demonstrable invoices of servicing and work.

Following a complete restoration of the body and mechanical components less than three years ago, the car is resplendent and ready to be enjoyed by any discerning new owner looking to make the most of the warmer weather.

The MGA needs little introduction to classic car lovers of 50s and 60s era vehicles. With beautiful styling and a stiff box section chassis derived from a special MG TD raced at Le Mans, it made for a both a pretty and rigid little car. As any car enthusiast will know, rigidity is something of great importance to a roadster in order to maintain good handling which in the case of the MGA was achieved, making it more than a match for its contemporary rivals from Austin-Healey and Triumph.

Mechanically, the 1600cc is good for 100 mph or 160 kmph and with its front disc brakes, it can at least pull up in a hurry, a vast improvement on earlier models.

Much loved and popular when new, at the end of its production in March 1962, it was the world’s best selling sports car with 100,000 sold all over the world. An important post war export and foreign currency earner for the British automotive industry and wider economy alike, 80% were sold to the US market and 5% sold to the domestic, UK market.

Sadly not all examples remain, and certainly not in this outstanding condition. This vehicle was one of those that went across to America, specifically California, which helps to explain the condition of the vehicle when compared to many UK or northern European examples.

Of course, it has also benefitted from many many thousands spent by its current owner, an avid collector of many different marques. On file, and available upon request, are invoices for almost £13,000 between December 2016 and 2019 alone. A summary of such work is at the bottom of this listing.

In terms of optional extras on this particular model, The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate shows that this vehicle, chassis number HDR43/65394 left the factory on the 19th of March 1959 with the following equipment fitted:
