Mercury built 2,158 Cyclone GT convertibles; only 100 were made to commemorate the Indianapolis 500. Furthermore, there were only 33 of these cars commissioned to be parade cars. These 33 cars were specially equipped with frame-mounted flag holders. Motor Trend in 1990 stated that “only track cars were drilled this way.” All of the 100 cars that were built for this day were painted in Candy Apple Red and had parchment bucket seats. This limited edition car has had a complete frame-off restoration with a recent color sanding.

The engines were all 390 cubic inch, 335 horsepower V-8 engines. This car is equipped with a C6 Merc-O-Matic heavy-duty automatic transmission. Standard equipment on this special car includes dual exhaust, twin scoops, fiberglass hood, GT identification, GT stripes, power top, power steering and a woodgrain steering wheel.

Included with this car is documentation, display board, new Pace Car decals and the all-important Marti Report.
