AMG’s Black Series team took the beautifully acclaimed SLS Coupe with its nostalgic gullwing doors and produced a tauter, faster, more hardcore version. The 6.2 liter engine was uprated to 622bhp and increased in redline to 8000rpm. The Black Series is 150lbs lighter than the standard SLS Coupe due to increased use of carbon fiber in body panels, mechanical components, and spaceframe, while also switching to a titanium exhaust system. The 7-Speed AMG Speedshift sports transmission is installed 10mm lower to achieve a lower center of gravity for the vehicle and the "Sport plus" and "Manual" modes feature faster shifting speeds. Other features include an electronic AMG rear-axle differential lock with a shorter rear-axle ratio, new AMG Ride Control and performance suspension.

Only 132 of the Black Series were shipped to the USA, finished in nine colors, only 32 were produced in Designo Mystic White. This SLS Black Series has all original books, tools, jack and Mercedes battery tender. This SLS Black was also optioned with the Bang and Olufsen sound system.

As the spiritual successor to the iconic 300 SL Gullwing, the SLS AMG Black Series is without a doubt the most desirable derivative of the platform and one with direct roots to competition.
