When given the opportunity to design and build their idea of the ultimate sports car in the late 2000s, it should come as no surprise that Mercedes engineers would endeavor to build a modern version of the iconic 300SL 'Gullwing'. The first Mercedes to be designed and built from scratch entirely by AMG, the SLS or "Super Leicht Sport" was launched during the 2009 Frankfurt International Auto Show. Designed by Mark Fetherston, the SLS would feature the signature gull-wing doors paired with a muscular exterior design that finds the perfect balance between elegance and power.

Powered by a 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated V8 offering 563 horsepower, AMG engineers maintained an impressive weight distribution by developing this fantastic dry-sump variant of their 'M159' engine which allowed the SLS to maintain a low hood line. Paired with a quick-shifting seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the SLS would reach 0-60 miles per hour in just 3.8 seconds. With a top speed of 196 miles per hour, six-piston aluminum brake calipers provide the necessary braking performance. While capable of astonishing performance figures, the AMG Drive Unit allows for selectable drive modes working in conjunction with suspension and transmission for tailored driving characteristics based on the driver's preference.

Finished in a beautiful 'Paintwork Outside Sample Card' Mysticrot (Mystic Red) Metallic exterior, this unique SLS is tastefully equipped with optional staggered 19-inch front and 20-inch rear five-spoke AMG wheels, a deployable rear-spoiler, and bi-xenon headlights. It is further believed to be the only such example finished in this particular color scheme, adding a layer of distinction to an already highly exclusive flagship. Trimmed in Exclusive Beige leather, the interior is brimming with typical Mercedes luxury including an AMG performance steering wheel with Alcantara grips. This example also features an optional Bang & Olufsen premium sound system and AMG aluminum trim, a performance motorcar equally well suited for long highway stretches or gobbling up twisty two-lane blacktop.

Offered with fewer than 7,700 miles from new at the time of cataloging, this highly optioned SLS AMG was specially ordered through Mercedes-Benz of Monterey and remains in excellent condition. It is accompanied by its original owner's manuals, two keys, a first aid kit, tire inflation kit, wheel chock, jack, and tool kit. Protected by full paint protection film on the front portion of the vehicle, the Mercedes was recently treated to a fresh Service A and Multipoint inspection by Mercedes-Benz of West Houston in January of 2023.

Beginning to display their surefire collectability in recent years, these cars are incredible engineering masterpieces with a truly unique driving experience due to their front-mid engine layout.
