Der Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss

Eine Reminiszenz an die SLR Rennsportfahrzeuge, die den Mythos der Silberpfeile begründeten und eine Hommage an Sir Stirling Moss: Der Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss vereint spektakuläres Design mit anspruchsvollster Technik und bietet ein einzigartiges Fahrerlebnis für alle Sinne. Das auf 75 Exemplare limitierte Modell ist ein hochkarätiger Klassiker für Gentleman Sportler und Liebhaber. Schon die neu entwickelte Form des SLR Stirling Moss vermittelt ungeheure Dynamik. Die lang gestreckte Motorhaube, der optisch ins Interieur übergehende Fahrzeugkörper und das kompakte, muskulöse Heck zitieren den Mythos SLR ebenso wie die lang gezogenen Hutzen mit integriertem Überrollbügel hinter den Kopfstützen, die facettenartig eingelegten und schwarz lackierten Lüftungsgitter an der Seite und auf der Motorhaube. Sehr hohe Seitenschweller, die kraftvoll konturierten Kotflügel und die sich nach vorne öffnenden Flügeltüren vervollständigen die emotionsgeladene Ästhetik des SLR Stirling Moss. Geschlossen werden kann das Fahrzeug durch Abdeckungen aus Carbon – die so genannten Tonneau Cover. Sind beide Tonneau Cover und die Türen geschlossen, wirkt der SLR Stirling Moss wie eine Skulptur. Auch technisch hat der SLR Stirling Moss von Haus aus die besten Gene der SLR Familie geerbt und profitiert von der langjährigen Erfahrung von Mercedes-Benz. So sorgen die aus Carbon gefertigte Karosserie, das neu entwickelte Monocoque, die federleichten 1.551 kg Leergewicht sowie die hervorragende Aerodynamik und Sicherheit bei einer Ausfahrt mit dem SLR Stirling Moss für ungebremsten Fahrspaß. Die Kombination von neuer Technologie und historischer Klasse ist über jeden Zweifel erhaben. Seine beeindruckende Leistung von 478 kW/ 650 PS bezieht der SLR Stirling Moss aus dem AMG 5,5-Liter-V8-Kompressormotor mit einem maximalen Drehmoment von 820 Newtonmeter, der den puristischen Hochleistungssportwagen auf eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 350 km/h beschleunigt. Akutes Staunen und Sprachlosigkeit beschreiben die Reaktionen wohl am besten, wenn man vor das Antlitz des SLR Stirling Moss tritt. Ein geschlossener Unterboden in Verbindung mit einem massiven Diffusor sorgt für den notwendigen Abtrieb und dadurch für ein dynamisch sportliches Fahrvergnügen. Puristisch wie die Wirkung nach außen ist auch der Innenraum konzipiert: Das Interieur ist auf das Wesentliche reduziert. Im Innenraum verwendete wertvolle Materialien unterstreichen den einzigartigen Charakter des SLR Stirling Moss. Unterhalb des Schaltknaufs verweist die eingravierte Signatur des Namensgebers in Aluminium auch hier auf den Mann, der dieses Fahrzeug zu einem Klassiker werden ließ. Eine Karosserieform, die unter Beachtung historischer Elemente wie der aus Carbon gefertigten Hutzen den Eindruck erweckt aus einem Guss entworfen zu sein, spiegelt die perfekt inszenierte Symbiose nostalgischen Rennsports und neuzeitigem Supersportwagen-Designs wider. Zehn Jahre bevor Modelle wie der Aston Martin V12 Speedster, der McLaren Elva und der Ferrari Monza dafür sorgten, dass Sammler sich einfach nicht die nicht Chance entgehen lassen konnten, sie in ihren Garagen zu parken, überwältigte Mercedes die Welt mit dem unvergleichlichen SLR Stirling Moss. Er wurde als fulminanter Schlussakkord der Kooperation von Mercedes und McLaren entwickelt und war eine rare Hommage an den Triumpf von Stirling Moss am Steuer seines 300 SLR bei der Mille Miglia 1955. Dank des fehlenden Dachs und dem großzügigen Einsatz von Karbonfaser war jedes Exemplar dieser Sonderedition um beeindruckende 200 Kilo leichter als der serienmäßige SLR. Damit ist dieser SLR auch die ultimative Verbeugung vor dem legendären Vorgänger. Der SLR besteht wie der McLaren F1 und alle nachfolgenden McLaren Modelle aus einem geklebten Kohlefaser-Monocoque. Zusammen mit dem Monocoque entwickelte McLaren eine vordere Crashstruktur aus Kohlefaser, die mit den Aluminium-Motorträgern des SLR verschraubt ist. Der Stirling Moss ist das erste Straßenfahrzeug mit dieser Innovation aus der Formel 1. Auch die Karosserie, die Türen und die Motorhaube des SLR bestehen aus Kohlefaser.

The Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss

A reminiscence of the SLR racing cars that founded the legend of the Silver Arrows and a tribute to Sir Stirling Moss: the Mercedes-Benz SLR Stirling Moss combines spectacular design with the most sophisticated technology and offers a unique driving experience for all the senses. The model, limited to 75 units, is a high-calibre classic for gentleman sportsmen and enthusiasts. Even the newly developed shape of the SLR Stirling Moss conveys tremendous dynamism. The elongated bonnet, the vehicle body that visually merges into the interior and the compact, muscular rear end allude to the SLR legend, as do the elongated bonnets with integrated roll bars behind the headrests, the facetted, black-painted ventilation grilles on the side and on the bonnet. Very high side skirts, the powerfully contoured wings and the front-opening gullwing doors complete the emotionally charged aesthetics of the SLR Stirling Moss. The vehicle can be closed with carbon fibre covers - the so-called tonneau covers. When both tonneau covers and the doors are closed, the SLR Stirling Moss looks like a sculpture. The SLR Stirling Moss has also inherited the best technical genes of the SLR family and benefits from Mercedes-Benz's many years of experience. The carbon-fibre body, the newly developed monocoque, the feather-light kerb weight of 1,551 kg and the outstanding aerodynamics and safety of the SLR Stirling Moss ensure unbridled driving pleasure. The combination of new technology and historic class is beyond any doubt. The SLR Stirling Moss draws its impressive output of 478 kW/650 hp from the AMG 5.5-litre supercharged V8 engine with a maximum torque of 820 Newton metres, which accelerates the purist high-performance sports car to a top speed of 350 km/h. Acute amazement and speechlessness probably best describe the reactions when you step in front of the face of the SLR Stirling Moss. A closed underbody in conjunction with a massive diffuser provides the necessary downforce and thus dynamic, sporty driving pleasure. The interior is designed to be as puristic as the exterior: The interior is reduced to the essentials. Valuable materials used in the interior emphasise the unique character of the SLR Stirling Moss. Below the gear knob, the engraved signature of the namesake in aluminium also refers to the man who turned this vehicle into a classic. A body shape which, while respecting historical elements such as the carbon-fibre scoops, gives the impression of being designed from a single mould, reflects the perfectly staged symbiosis of nostalgic racing and contemporary super sports car design. Ten years before models such as the Aston Martin V12 Speedster, the McLaren Elva and the Ferrari Monza ensured that collectors simply couldn't pass up the chance to park them in their garages, Mercedes stunned the world with the incomparable SLR Stirling Moss. Developed as a brilliant final chord in the collaboration between Mercedes and McLaren, it was a rare tribute to Stirling Moss' triumph at the wheel of his 300 SLR at the 1955 Mille Miglia. Thanks to the lack of a roof and the generous use of carbon fibre, each example of this special edition was an impressive 200 kilos lighter than the standard SLR. This SLR is therefore also the ultimate tribute to its legendary predecessor. Like the McLaren F1 and all subsequent McLaren models, the SLR consists of a bonded carbon fibre monocoque. Along with the monocoque, McLaren developed a carbon fibre front crash structure that is bolted to the SLR's aluminium engine mounts. The Stirling Moss is the first road car to feature this innovation from Formula 1. The body, doors and bonnet of the SLR are also made of carbon fibre.
