Description
Inspired by the Vision SLR concept, the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren launched in 2003, revisiting the “Silver Arrow” design language synonymous with Mercedes-Benz’s most renowned performance vehicles. A collaboration between Mercedes-Benz AMG and Formula 1 partner McLaren, the SLR combined distinctive features, such as “butterfly” doors, with supercar performance. Designed under the guidance of Gordon Murray, famed for the McLaren F1, the SLR featured a carbon-reinforced plastic monocoque and a 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 engine, which produced 617 hp. This allowed the SLR to reach 0–60 mph in only 3.8 seconds, and achieve a staggering top speed of 208 mph. The SLR has since lived on as a symbol of the period’s push towards cutting-edge F1 technology integration, which is now evident in most supercars today.
Finished in the highly desirable launch color scheme of Crystal Laurite Silver over Black semi-aniline leather, this is one of only 141 brought to the US in 2006. Delivered new through Mercedes-Benz of Salt Lake City, it has since lived a pampered lifestyle under the care of its doting original owner. Regularly maintained and stored exclusively in a climate-controlled garage, this SLR showed a mere 9,428 miles at the time of cataloguing.
Complete with its original books, service manuals, and window sticker, this extraordinary Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren offers a chance to own an example of a truly inspired motor sports collaboration, offered by its first and only owner.
