Few road cars have been so eagerly anticipated as the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren of 2003. Having enjoyed great success together in Formula 1, the German company and British firm produced a dramatic coupé that had the performance to worry elite supercars, but also excelled as a luxurious grand tourer.

At the heart of its appeal lies a stupendous 5.5-litre, 617 brake horsepower, supercharged V-8 engine developed by Mercedes-Benz’s performance division, AMG, that allows 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and delivers a top speed of 334 km/h. Near 50-50 weight distribution aids the handling, while the distinctive elongated bonnet and butterfly doors constitute a vivid nod to the feted 300 SLR of the 1950s.

The example offered here left the factory in May 2004, finished in Crystal Laurit Silver Metallic paint complemented by desirable Silver Arrow 300 SL with red leather and black detailing inside. It was destined for its first owner in Kuwait. It is presented today with just 3,293 kilometres on the odometer at the time of cataloguing, and is believed to have been used sparingly as a result of remaining in storage for much of its life. It was acquired by the consigning owner in 2023 and taken to Germany.
