The SL W113, better known as the Pagode: you should follow it. That task rests on the shoulders of the SL of the R107 series, which came onto the market in 1971. However, Mercedes-Benz manages to do it and builds one of the longest running model series with the R107 SL. The model has been in production for 18 years, with more than 237,000 built. It is not without reason that the SL is such a great success, simply put, it is about the best that is on sale at the time. The black bodywork only has some very light signs of wear that match the age and mileage of the car. However, the sheet metal is nice and thin and the fits are correct.

The interior is completely original and the grey leather with heated seats on the front seats is well-maintained and beautifully cared for. The leather is still wonderfully supple and has developed a beautiful patina over the years. This 500 SL also received the rear seats from the factory. The beautifully designed counters also function as they should and look neat. The car stands on the original light metal rims surrounded by good tires in the correct sizes.

With its beautiful, 90° V8 with a beautiful sound, there is more than enough torque and power everywhere. The smooth V8 runs beautifully and silky smooth, which is not surprising considering that the engine has only driven 25,000 miles. This SL provides a lot of hassle-free fun, that's for sure. In the meantime, the automatic gearbox does its work silently, and the gear changes run very smoothly. The brakes and chassis are also very well suited to their task. The car is well-sprung and damped and the brakes are well controlled. The entire board map comes with the car.

This really is a touring car that offers unprecedented pleasure during long distances on the highway, but with which you can also drive an incredible number of fantastic kilometres on country roads, with or without an open top. Naturally, the underbody is just as good as the rest of the car, without any visible rust, thanks in part to the car's use in the warm and dry climate of California.
