1971 Mercedes Benz 280SL roadster, S/N 11304412018545, DB423 Tobacco Brown with cognac, brown convertible top, factory removable hard top, 2.8 litre in-line 6 cylinder engine, 4 speed automatic transmission, disc brakes, power steering, Becker Europa radio, Frigiking air conditioning, complete with original owner’s manuals and pouch, original warranty booklet, original factory data card, copy of original salesroom invoice, extensive history file with work order dating back to the 70s, delivered new March 16, 1971 via The Koepke Motor Sales Company in Lakewood, Ohio, to Mrs. Grace N. Henry of Shaker Heights, Ohio, who would go on to own the 280SL for the next 45 years until selling to marque specialist Hatch & Sons in 2016, comprehensive freshening completed in 2017 by Hatch & Sons, including complete show quality repainting in original 423 Tobacco Brown, re-stuffing of original seat upholstery, wood refinishment, major servicing, sorting and detailing, all original sheet metal with factory spot welds and fender “notches” present, with just two owners and 53,000 miles from new, our Tobacco Brown 280SL roadster is a superb example in its factory original colors from the final year of 280SL production, and is on offer now in our suburban Boston showroom in this the 60th anniversary year of the introduction of the 113 chassis roadster.
