Description

This Mercedes 'Pagoda' left the factory in 1964; it was then white with a matching hardtop. It recently underwent a full, high-quality restoration and has seen little use since. Its elegant body was completely stripped down and sandblasted before being repainted a superb dark blue. The paint was applied with particular care, and the panel gaps are faultless. All the body seals were replaced at the same time, the chrome refurbished and all the nuts and bolts and special fittings zinc-plated. All five wheels were repainted in black and new Vredestein Sprint Classic tyres (dated 2018) fitted. The interior is just as good, having been reupholstered in tan leather and fitted with beige carpets, covering the tailored rubber mats inside and in the boot. The dark blue hood has also been restored. Behind the handsome black Bakelite steering wheel, the driver can admire a full set of instruments, including a speedometer reading in kph and showing 75356 km; the wood trim has been refurbished. With one hand on the lever for the 4-speed manual 'box, he can then awaken the six-cylinder engine, which starts immediately and quickly settles to an even idle. The oil pressure is excellent, the engine does not overheat, the clutch is progressive and the brakes well-balanced, making the car as pleasant to drive as it is attractive to look at. All the electrical equipment works, including the Hitachi radio. The controls are firm, a testament to the car's extensive restoration
This car was restored by l'Atelier des Coteaux in France.
