Description

MY GALLERY proposes you this sumptuous 1959 Mercedes-Benz 190SL (W121 B II).

This SL is powered by an 1897 cm³ engine, based on the six-cylinder of the 300SL, an overhead camshaft, two twin Weber carburettors, and offers 105 bhp.

In the early 1950s, Mercedes-Benz returned to competition with the 300SL, and in 1953 the American importer of the marque with the star pulled off a masterstroke by encouraging Mercedes to produce a civilian version in 1954. But Mercedes didn't stop there, and the decision was made to produce a roadster based on the 300SL, but cheaper to produce and more accessible to customers: the 190SL. But the most important thing about the Mercedes 190SL was above all its lines. The designers succeeded in creating a design that was very close to the 300SL, despite being 30 centimetres shorter.

Like the 300SL cabriolet, the 190SL takes many styling cues from the 300SL coupé. The radiator grille, bumpers, headlights and many interior features are identical to those of the 300SL coupé. The 300SL cabriolet and 190SL share the same soft-top parts. However, the 190SL's rear lights have been taken from the S-Class pontoon.

The 190SL already featured many options as standard for its time, including an extremely well-stocked dashboard (engine rev counter, oil pressure, battery level, etc.), leather interior, etc.

The 190SL, like the 300SL, is considered to represent the pinnacle of perfection in terms of Mercedes body design. Mercedes-Benz knows this and maintains the myth via a special restoration workshop for the 190SL and 300SL in Fellbach, Germany.

This magnificent example for sale is in absolutely new condition, having been restored a good ten years ago.
As you can see, the vehicle has been driven very little since its restoration, keeping its new condition over the years.
