1961 wurde das "Ur-Model" der Modelreihe W111 vorgestellt. 1969 kam schließlich der optisch etwas geänderte Typ mit 2,8 ltr. Motor als "Flachkühlerversion" auf den Markt. Dieses Model wurde auf Wunsch und gegen Aufpreis auch mit dem völlig neu entwickelten 3,5 l V8-Motor angeboten. Nur 3.270 Exemplare wurden gefertigt. Diese Modelle waren die letzten weitgehend handgefertigten Mercedes, weshalb der Preis der Coupés nahezu doppelt so hoch ist wie die der Limousinen.

Gemäß vorliegenden Unterlagen erwarb der derzeitige Besitzer das Fahrzeug vor ca. 20 Jahren mit einer KM-Laufleistung von 88.782 km. Regelmäßige Wartungen wurden dokumentiert vorgenommen und ein akribisches Fahrtenbuch geführt. Der Wagen präsentiert sich in einem sehr gut erhaltenen Originalzustand. Gemäß vorliegender Datenkarte entspricht die jetzige Farbgebung in silbergraumetallic der Auslieferung. Der Unterboden wurde gemäß vorliegender Fotodokumentation eisgestrahlt und anschließend konserviert. The ‘original model’ of the W111 series was introduced in 1961. In 1969, the model with the 2.8-litre engine was launched on the market as a ‘flat radiator version’ with a slightly different appearance. This model was also offered with the completely newly developed 3.5 litre V8 engine on request and at extra cost. Only 3,270 units were produced. These models were the last largely hand-built Mercedes, which is why the price of the coupés is almost twice as high as that of the saloons.
