The notorious R63 AMG. The car served as further proof at the time that AMG still had it. An insane concept combining Mercedes flagship, luxury six-seater MPV with AMG's potent 6.2 litre, naturally aspirated V8 with 510hp and 630lb-ft of torque. The mind-boggling, dynamic chassis splits power 40:60 between the front and rear wheels via AMG's speedshift 7G-Tronic automatic transmission. As a result, the R63 can sprint from 0-60mph in just 4.9 seconds and has a limited top speed of 155mph.

Supplied new to the Prime Minister of Malaysia as his London car, this example has had five previous keepers from new (two of which were members of the same family). It is one of only just 322 cars produced worldwide, and 12 UK-market cars. The odometer displays 63,551 miles from new.

This example is finished in the handsome hue of Chromite Black Metallic over a black AMG Nappa leather-trimmed cabin, which is accented by tasteful aluminium trim inlays.

It rides on a set of 20-inch five-spoke wheels, housing AMG high-performance 390mm ventilated brake discs, and shod in Continental ContiSportContact 2 tyres.

Factory-fitted equipment includes a reversing camera, electric multi-adjustable heated seats front and rear, second-row reclining ‘Captain’s chairs’, TV module, satellite navigation, a premium Harman Kardon sound system, dual-zone climate control, tow bar, privacy screens, tracker, and rear entertainment system with seat-mounted screens.

The car’s original owner’s manuals and service book will be included, as well as an encyclopaedia collated by the previous owner of all dealer-supplied sales brochures that were available for the R-Class, the R63, and the AMG range at the time of manufacture, assembled over years from various Mercedes club events and auctions.

The car also comes with a detailed history of ownership, and a collection of maintenance invoices. This R63’s latest service was carried out in October 2023 at 64,067 miles by Wayne Gates Mercedes-Benz Servicing. The work consisted of a Minor Service, Air Conditioning regas and new inlet manifold gaskets.

Prior to this, the car was serviced in April 2022 at 62,346 miles by Stevenson Mercedes Specialist. The work comprised of an engine oil and filter change, along with the replacement of the front and rear brake discs and pads, the nearside rear shock absorber, the auxiliary battery, wiper blades and four new tyres. All four wheels were also refurbished during the service, prior to the fitment of the new tyres.

Then before that, the car was serviced in November 2020 at 62,174 miles by Mercedes-Benz of Bath which was a Service A, and in March 2019 a Service B was performed by Mercedes-Benz of Beaconsfield, including an ignition coil and brake fluid replacement.

In addition to these services, there are plenty of other service invoices etc. accompanying the car.

These R63s seldom come to market with so few of them in existence. We know this to be one of the lowest mileage examples in the country that presents incredibly well as a result of not only the mileage but also the well documented care and attention the car has received throughout its life. It really does need to be experienced as a package as frankly it is a bit bonkers. The power delivery and noise are comical when under load, but whack it in comfort mode on the gearbox and suspension and it elegantly wafts along like the S-Class it is loosely based upon.
