Description
– Don’t follow my path, you won’t make it –
And that’s no lie. The Mercedes Geländewagen is not only an icon in Amsterdam South today, but also unstoppable as soon as the asphalted roads stop. Only then do you understand why Mercedes has been producing this car (almost) unchanged for over forty years.
Many special variations have been brought out in the past forty years, where even the Pope in Rome had one built with a glass dome on the back. Ours certainly falls into the category of “special”; it is one of the first Gelände wagons, which proved itself again at the Dakar Classic last January at the age of 41. It finished 10th(!) out of 139 teams in the classic camel race!
Our Mercedes Benz 230 GE Dakar was completely restored and built up especially for the Dakar Classic at the end of 2021 by a specialist for over 150 thousand euros. The 2300 got an additional 500 cc of pushing German, the body parts were replaced for lightweight and everything is cathedral dunes and camel toe proof. After its first successful drive, for a Mercedes G, it has only just been broken in. Ready for more dust and thrills, with guaranteed entry to the Dakar Classic. Tick it off your bucket list, coffee is ready!
