Description

In 1968, Mercedes-Benz launched the W114 and W115 models. The W114 models had six-cylinder engines and were marketed as the 230, 250 and 280. The W115 models had four-cylinder engines and were marketed as the 200, 220, 230 and 240, with diesel models labeled with the D designation. These models from Mercedes were hugely successful. During the models' 9-year production run, more cars were produced than were produced in total in the last 23 years (1945-1967). There were many reasons for this success, but perhaps the most important was the wide variety within the model segment. The car was also extremely reliable. As an example, in 2004 the Greek taxi driver Gregorios Sachinidis donated his Mercedes-Benz 240 from 1976 to the Mercedes-Benz Museum with just over 4.6 million kilometers on the odometer.
In 1969, Mercedes introduced a coupé version of the W114, with a longer boot and available with either a 2.5 or 2.8 liter six-cylinder engine. The pillar less design also allowed all windows to be fully lowered. Only 67,048 coupes were produced from 1969 to 1976. Compared to 1,852,008 of the sedan variant.
We can now present a really nice and well-preserved example of the Mercedes-Benz W114 model. A 280 Coupe painted in signal red and upholstered with black seats. The car was sold new in 1975, to Mr. Lundqvist living in Köping, Sweden. He then kept the car until his 89th birthday in 2001, when he decided to sell it to its next owner. This owner, who also lived in Köping, he owned and used the car until this day.
During its lifetime, the car has always been parked indoors and is largely in its original condition. This 280 C is also equipped with a towbar and cleverly hidden cassette tape player that hides in the glove compartment.
