Introduced in 1968, the W114 and W115 series were to succeed the ‘pointed wing’ series. Smaller than its predecessor, but without sacrificing any roominess, its overall shape was modelled on the S-Class W108/109 launched a few years earlier. Available in a diesel version, which was very popular with taxi drivers around the world, it was one of Mercedes Benz's great successes.
This example spent the first 42 years of its life in South Africa before ending up in the hands of a German collector.
Today, it is in generally good condition, with traces of corrosion on the bodywork. The engine has been completely rebuilt for more than 9000 euros (invoice available). Today the car is sold with an unfavourable TUV (corrosion and leakage) as well as a German historic title.
