Description
Maserati have been well known for their luxurious GT cars and saloons for many years now and the Quattroporte is their signature luxury saloon. The Maserati Quattroporte is a four-door luxury sports sedan. The name is translated from Italian, meaning four doors.
The fourth generation Quattroporte (Tipo AM337) was unveiled at the Turin Auto Show in April 1994 and was built from 1994 to 2001 under the full ownership of Fiat. It was built on an evolved and stretched version of the Bi Turbo saloons’ architecture with a steel monocoque chassis and used twin-turbocharged V6 and V8 engines respectively from the Ghibli and Maserati Shamal coupes.
The Quattroporte also featured all independent suspension with MacPherson struts upfront and trailing arms in the rear section for improved and optimal handling and comfort. In addition to the handling improvements, weight was reduced by 300kg due to the Quattroporte's underpinnings that it shares with the Biturbo.
The interior is done with comfort in mind, fully upholstering it in a combination of Conolly leather and elm burl wood veneer to give it a homely and welcoming feel. The elegant, signature Maserati clock is also spotted above the climate controls in the center.
The wedge shaped aerodynamic body with angular rear wheel arches was the work of Marcello Gandini, who was also responsible for the designs of the Lamborghini Miura and Countach.
This is a low mileage Maserati Quattroporte with the 2.8l V6 Twin Turbo engine with 280 BHP. It will accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds and will reach a top speed of 255km/h.
It has recently had a major refurbishment programme completed at Crossley & Webb. A good opportunity to acquire Italian luxury for a bargain.
