Description

Introduced in 1966, the Vignale-designed Maserati Mexico was a striking 2+2 coupe that epitomized the Italian automotive design of the era. Inside, the cabin was appointed with plush leather upholstery, wood trim, and seating for four, making it ideal for long-distance journeys. Under the hood, early models were propelled by a potent V-8 engine derived from Maserati’s racing lineage. Built from 1966 to 1972, just 485 Mexicos are believed to have been built, of which only 175 featured the larger 4.7 liter 4 cam V8 engine.

Finished in burgundy over dark brown leather, this 1966 Maserati is fitted with the larger 4.7-liter engine paired with the more sporting five-speed manual gearbox. Other equipment includes air-conditioning, 15" Borrani wire wheels, power steering, and a radio. In addition, this Mexico 4.7 comes accompanied by books and tools.

Under previous ownership, this Mexico received an extensive five-year restoration by Dale Adams Enterprises of Kent, Ohio. The Mexico’s drivetrain was rebuilt, including the engine, gearbox, and differential, as well as the suspension and steering. The body was repainted, chrome parts were replated, and rubber components were replaced, while the interior was reupholstered by Sharp Automotive Upholstery of Elyria, Ohio. It would be difficult to find a Maserati Mexico in a better specification or in finer condition than this superb example.
