Description
The Continental was the crown jewel of the Lincoln product line for many years, attracting such celebrities as Frank Sinatra and Elizabeth Taylor. The 2,195 units produced of the 1959 Mark IV carried the then-outrageous sticker price of $7,056.
As befitted the flagship model, it was bedecked with features such as fender skirts, six-way power seats, tinted glass, radio with dual speakers, remote driver’s side mirror, power windows, and power steering and brakes. The convertible top was also power-operated, incorporating a retractable glass rear window.
Presented in its original colors of white with a contrasting black and white interior and black convertible top, this Continental was restored approximately five years ago, before its current ownership. In the hands of its most recent caretakers, it has been professionally maintained and driven minimally to shows and events.
Both the exterior and interior of this lovely Continental are in excellent condition, with paint and chrome to be admired. It has the original undercoating, the engine bay is well-detailed, and it is a testament to mid-century automotive design.
This wonderful Continental is sure to satisfy any discerning collector with the intent to show and tour a magnificent icon of 1950s American style.
