Description

Harry Alexander Classics is pleased to offer for sale an extremely rare and collectable, early Automatic Range Rover Classic in stunning Balmoral Green. This is an extremely high specification vehicle, with every conceivable option of the period, and, with extremely low mileage.

Along with the limited run of ‘in Vogue’ models this was the first generation of automatic Range Rovers offered for sale by British Leyland. It was also the first proper, mainstream run of four door Range Rover to fully embrace and pursue the luxury, up market opportunities that were clear from the insatiable demand for the 1981 Two Door and the 1983/1984 four door ‘In Vogue’, special editions.

Picking up where the four door ‘In Vogue’ left off, this Range Rover Classic is almost identical - and top of the range. This unique example was sold to Andorra and first registered in August 1984.

No option went unticked when new - It boasts air conditioning, polished wooden door cappings, front and rear folding armrests, rear headrests, a coin tray and full carpeting throughout, including the boot/trunk. Other standout features include the Vogue three spoke alloy wheels with ‘Range Rover’ centre caps.

And of course it is equipped with the Automatic 3 speed Chrysler A727 Torqueflite Transmission and LT230R Transfer Box. This was a revolutionary change to Range Rover ownership, marking a step change from earlier examples.

Until coming into our possession, the car had been owned by its most recent owner for over 3 years and was in constant use during that time.

It has recently had a service and tuning of its carburettors. It drives beautifully, (several driving videos are available) and is a very relaxing and special vehicle to drive. Both the engine and gearbox are extremely smooth.

The car has some service history from the Land Rover main dealer in Andorra stamped in its official service book which accompanies the vehicle. The first owner resided in Andorra for some of the year due to tax status, spending other parts away, and the car was always garaged. And given how small Andorra is, combined with the international travel and residences of its first owner, it helps to explain why the mileage at just 30,000 kilometres is so low.

The interior is like new. Utterly pristine. And not just for a car that is almost 40 years old, but even for a car that is 4 years old. The interior is remarkable.

The chassis is in very good condition and is untouched from new in original condition. The paintwork in Balmoral Green is outstanding.

This truly is a collector’s car - extremely rare, with exceptionally low mileage and in fantastic condition.

The car has all of its paperwork and manuals and has had export papers completed already from Andorra - it is ready to go to its new owner wherever they may be.
