Description
"Right from the beginning, the Range Rover represented something of a lifestyle movement. Although considered rudimentary by today’s standards, the ‘Suffix A’ was billed as a ‘Four-In-One’ car. It was a luxury car, a performance car, an estate and, of course, a cross-country car. They were launched with the ubiquitous Rover V8 engine which delivered 135bhp but, more importantly, 185lb/ft of torque. Various improvements were made through the suffixes (A-F) with the 1976 suffix D benefitting from improved carburettors, interior lighting in the headlining and more luxurious carpeting on the transmission tunnel.
The vendor acquired this rare two-door example in 2018 after previously importing it from South Africa. Due to the dry climate, the car came back to the UK totally rot and rust free. The suspension was stripped down, overhauled and replaced with standard equipment and body mountings. It underwent a complete glass-out re-paint in the original factory ‘Fuji White’. All the window rubbers were replaced and a new windscreen fitted. The wheels were sand blasted and powder coated and now sport fresh new rubber. The interior has been kept original, although deep cleaned and the seats were re-padded to revive and refresh the beautiful tan leather. Everyone arrives in new, four-door Range Rovers during the shooting season; why not stand out from the crowd..."
