The Land Rover Defender received its last update in 2012, with the most important change lying under the bonnet, where a 2.2-litre version of Ford’s Duratorq diesel replaced the 2.4-litre unit in use since 2007. Connected to a six-speed manual transmission, the new engine delivers 122 horsepower in both the Defender 90 and Defender 110. The other change was the introduction of the soft top body style to the general public, an option previously only available to special orders and military fleet vehicles. One year after updating the model, Land Rover confirmed that Defender production was to end in 2015.
