Launched to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Land Rover brand the Defender SVX was built on the short-wheel-base 90 platform. Available as both “station wagon” and infinitely more cool soft top. 

Additional features over a comparable “standard” Defender of the time include stronger aluminium underbody protection, silver accents on the grille and the exoskeleton style roll cage. These are not just a cooking spec Defender 90. 

On the exterior you’ll find deep black paint accented with satin black 60th anniversary features, SVX branding and diamond cut alloy wheels. You’ll find all of the standard Defender accoutrements, but with the addition of the exterior roll cage, as this is one of the more special soft top models, you’ll see the fabric soft top which is in excellent condition. 

Hop inside and you’ll find a pair of Land Rover branded Recaro Sportster seats and a continued theme of silver accents. Thanks to the SVX being based on the later Defenders, drivers benefit from power steering, heated Recaro bucket seats, air conditioning, heated front windscreen and electric windows. 

If you open the bonnet you’ll find a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The engine and gearbox combination make this a very driveable Defender, as at home at motorway speeds as it is fording rivers and climbing out of ruts. 

Another quirky and interesting feature of the SVX is the load bed, thanks to the soft top and lack of rear seats you’ll find a practical load space lined with thick rubber, and a recessed spare wheel. Meaning that this truck is truly usable and practical. 

This SVX is one of just 300 examples built, and having been owned by a single owner from new it is a rare opportunity to own a true icon of British motoring, that you can use, and enjoy. It has covered just 11,300 miles from new and has a complete service record, and will be supplied with the private registration ‘L8 SVX’, which it has sported from new. 

Despite this example's incredibly low mileage, it has an extensive service record and has always been looked after by either a Land Rover main dealer or a specialist. It will be supplied with a service and fresh MOT.
