Black leather steering wheel.Air conditioning.Stereo cassette radioPowered by Land Rover's legendary TD5,five-cylinder diesel enginewith 122 horsepowerThis super example benefitsfrom a recent extensive programme of works and presents in fabulous condition67,562 miles supported by itshistory file which includesphotographic evidence of refurbishment, service book and all related invoicesOver the years there have been a number of'special edition' Land Rover Defenders released including the 90 SV, Defender 50th, and the Heritage. Possibly the best known special edition was the "Tomb Raider" from2000 which was createdto commemorate Land Rover's role in the first film of that franchise. Designed to look like an off-road expedition vehicle, it was finished in Bonatti Grey metallic paintwith special badging and details andcame equipped with a roof rack and roof rack support system (looking similar to a roll-cage), additional spotlights, winch, bull-bar,raised air-intake andPewter Grey 'Boost' alloys wheels. They were available either as a 90 or a 110-inch double cab, with standard Td5 engines. The Defender actually used in the film (now on display at the Motor Heritage Centre, Gaydon) was a highly modified 110 HCPU with a specially fitted and tuned V8 petrol engine and a non-standard interior.Offered here is a UK-supplied, right-hand drive Land Rover Defender Tomb Raider edition believed to be one of 250 produced. This particular example has been subject to a recent extensive programme of works to ensure it continues to perform well and help preserve this special edition for the future. We are informed that over 12,000 has been invested in this distinctivevehicle and as a result, itpresents in showroom condition and performs exactly as it should. In our vendor's words On the road, she is as good as you get with strong turbo performance and the rugged sure-footed handling only a Defender can provide.Accompanying this exclusive Defender is a history file which includesthe original service book, a wealth of related invoices and photographic evidence ofthe recent overhaul. The MOT is valid until February 2021 and this gleaming example we believe should require nothing more than routine maintenance in the foreseeable future.Having become something of a British institution, production of the classic Defender ended in 2016 after 67 years and almost 2 million units. Ownership of a special edition offers membership to a rather exclusive club and, being one of just 250 units, these Tomb Raider models will continue to have a strong following and consequentlyremain extremely desirable.Video of the Land Rover Defender 90 'Tomb Raider'2001 Land Rover Defender 90 'Tomb Raider'https://youtu.be/uvoILGbXlgUtrue
