Description
Land Rovers were inspired by the US-built Willys Jeep immediately after the war and by 1992; they claimed that 70% of all the vehicles they had ever built were still in use. Before the war, Rover had produced luxury cars which ceased to be in demand in the immediate post-war period and raw materials were strictly rationed to those companies building construction or industrial equipment. Rover's original factory in Coventry had also been bombed, forcing the company to move into a huge factory it had built in Solihull for constructing aircraft. Re-badged models were introduced in 1983 as the Land Rover 90 and the Land Rover 110 with the numbers representing the wheelbase in inches.
This lovely example of the one of the worlds greatest 4x4 vehicles has just undergone a meticulous restoration which has entailed utilising some of its original parts and replacing those which needed to be replaced. It is presented in Heritage Green with a contrasting black roof and has a rear mounted spare wheel. Some subtle upgrades have been made like Xenon headlights, chequer plate to the top of the front wings, black wheel arches, black sidestep and black wheels which make this Land Rover look particularly smart. The front and rear seats have been re-trimmed and it has been fitted with a 2.5 TDi diesel engine which was taken out, stripped, rebuilt and put back in although the odometer reading is 80,000 which is superfluous really.
