Description
"Although having a family resemblance to the XK120 and XK140, the XK150 was radically modernised. A one piece windscreen replaced the split screen and the wing line no longer dropped as much over the doors. The bonnet was widened, opened down to the wings and, on the roadster, the bulkhead was moved back four inches to make the bonnet longer. In the interior, the XK140's walnut dashboard was replaced by one trimmed in leather and chrome. On the early drophead coupés, an aluminium centre dash panel with an 'X' pattern engraving was fitted which looked like the early 3.8 litre, E-Type, whilst thinner doors gave more interior space. The four wheel Dunlop 12 disc brakes appeared for the first time although it was theoretically possible to order a car with drums and either wire wheels or disc wheels could be specified. Suspension and chassis were very like those on the XK140.
Presented in Old English White with red leather interior, this lovely righthand drive XK150 fixedhead coupé was supplied new in the UK by Henleys. The car spent much of its life abroad however, being the property of a Norwegian diplomat who had the car with him, along with his 3.8 litre Mk. II, in Nairobi Kenya. The car travelled to Switzerland and then back to Norway before eventually ending up in France. Last year the car was repatriated to the UK by the vendor. Benefitting from an interior retrim and an engine rebuild in the 1990’s, it still presents very well. It has not been modified and remains true to its original design, with the only mechanical alteration being the addition of a Kenlow electric fan.
This matching numbers XK is supplied with V5C registration document, MoT test certificate valid until November 2020 and service history right back through to the 1980’s. Righthand drive XK Jaguars from this period are very sought after and collectable and represent a usable classic giving the best of both worlds, a good investment and an enjoyable driving car."
