Description

“An ultra-fast car which is close to perfection. The Jaguar XK150 S”

John Bolster, the Autocar

The swansong of the XK range, the XK150 was the most comfortable of all the XK’s, and the most suited to Grand Touring. The 3.8S XK150 engine, at only 10 bhp behind the E-Type (according to the factory!), was the most powerful production road engine Jaguar had produced, as well as being the most advanced.

Chassis T 820078 DN was built in May 1960, and supplied through Henly’s, London. Finished in Cream over Red, the colours it is finished in today, it retains its original U.K. registration number WSJ 399.

Little is known about the early history of the XK, but there is no question as to the authenticity. There is a letter from Chris Keith-Lukas on file who, having inspected the Jaguar, confirms it is chassis T 820078 DN. Additionally, Philip Porter confirms it is an original 3.8S as listed in the Clausenger book.

It has recently formed part of one of the most significant of U.K. collections. Under their custodianship, it has been looked after by David Brazell of Brazell engineering, who completed a thorough service and recommissioning in 2022 at a cost of almost £10,000.

With it being one of only 24 of the original Right Hand Drive 3.8S Roadsters built, it is one of the rarest XK’s, and certainly one of the most desirable. Fully matching numbers, this is an XK for the serious collector.
