Description
After extensive development work the Jaguar XJ-S V12 convertible was finally presented at the Geneva salon in February 1988 and thus, 13 years after the introduction of the coupé, at last a proper cabriolet of the XJ-S was available. Our example is a Swiss delivery and was first registered on the 14th November 1989. North of 111’000 Swiss francs were required to be handed over the keys to a silky smooth 5.3 litre V12 engine with 267 horsepower, an automatic gearbox, cruise control, the intricate electro-hydraulic soft top, a leather interior and air conditioning. The first owner, a businessman, also had a mobile phone installed, back in those days a rather pricy luxury feature. In July 2017, at 66’216 kilometres, the noble cabriolet was registered in his wife’s name, who, in the following two years, only covered around 1’000 kilometres with the car. In October 2019 the XJS was de-registered and dry-stored. Recently the cabriolet was revived, a major service was performed including replacement of the rear brake discs and pads. With only one owner, now 67’700 kilometres driven and freshly serviced, the Jaguar is in good to very good original condition and will be handed over to a new owner with the most recent MOT from March 2025.
