Description
"First developed in 1968 the XJS was intended as a replacement for the now legendary E-Type. From the beginning it was only available with the V12 engine which gave excellent performance with 0-60mph being dispatched in a very respectable 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 150mph. Later cars were fitted with a six-cylinder engine and a manual gearbox, and in May 1988 a convertible version was introduced. The XJS was one of the most popular Jaguar models of all time and they are increasingly becoming more sought after.
This well presented example rolled of the Jaguar production line in 1986 and was used as one of Jaguars own company cars for some time. Since 2009 this Jaguar has covered very little mileage having been part of a significant collection. At some stage during its life this Jaguar has been converted to TWR specification which includes two-tone TWR paintwork, TWR front and rear bumpers, TWR side skirts and rear spoiler, and a TWR leather sports steering wheel. Also fitted to the Jaguar are the desirable lattice alloy wheels and twin front headlights. Showing a mere 47,280 miles on the odometer, this XJS comes complete with a sizeable history file including the original service book showing the first service completed by Jaguar Cars Ltd with a further seven service stamps from Jaguar main dealers, the last of which showing an odometer reading of 42,798 miles. The general condition of the car is good, the paintwork has a deep shine and presents well as does the interior which shows little sign of age. The engine bay is clean, and it is reported that the car runs and drives as it should. Presented in the desirable TWR specification and offered with a sizeable history file this example is an opportunity not to be missed.Interested parties should note that contrary to the catalogue description, the odometer reading is 47,208.The health and safety of both our customers and team remains the utmost priority, we are therefore operating to Government guidelines throughout viewing and auction day."
