Description
CKL are pleased to offer this race prepared Jaguar MKVII, campaigned by notable drivers such as Mike Salmon, Tony Dron, Phil Keen and Ollie Bryant.
Acquired by the current owner in 2000 as a road car, an opportunity had arisen to race the MKVII at the first ever 50’s touring car race at Goodwood Revival.
Racing Green immediately set to prepare the MKVII to face the Revival crowds and would be shared by the current owner with Le Mans Legend Mike Salmon.
Over the early 2000’s, the MKVII would return repeatedly to Goodwood and even to the iconically beautiful Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps with Mike Salmon at the helm.
In 2010, Mike Salmon would regrettably lay down his racing gloves due to a long-term illness, preventing him from racing the MKVII. Mike’s motto, “Flat as a Kipper!” in plaque form, was installed to the dashboard on the MKVII and preserves his legendary memory to this day.
The MKVII would continue to race every season up until 2024, most notably:
- Tony Dron at Goodwood Revival 2010
- Ollie Bryant at Goodwood Members Meeting 2015
- A regular in the Jaguar race at Castle Combe Autumn Classic
Religiously maintained and developed over the years, the MKVII has benefitted from many useful upgrades including a 3.8L engine paired with triple Weber carburettors and disc brakes.
Eligible for Goodwood Revival, Members Meeting, HRDC and HSCC events, this MKVII should not be overlooked by any competitive racing driver in the historic motorsport world.
