This beautiful roadster was sold new on January 29, 1968, by the Jaguar dealer in New York, as confirmed by its Jaguar Heritage certificate. Next it was traced to Florida where it was registered in 1984, and two years later, it was imported in France when it displayed 53,000 miles on the odometer. M. Thanry’s son acquired the car in 1989 after the body had just been restored. As a demanding enthusiast, the latter entrusted the car to ECA, a specialist, in 1991 for a complete overhaul of the engine, the details of which are in the folder. On this occasion, the gearbox was revised, the steering rack redone with the replacement of the bushings and ball joints, as well as the electrical harness. In 2019, when it was showing 64,764 miles, the engine, which retains the original block, was removed for cleaning and replacement of the seals, the gearbox was also overhauled, the clutch changed, as well as the silent blocs for gearbox support, the carburettors overhauled, brakes repaired, and the 2 front tires replaced with Michelin XAS. The total work added up to € 13,000. Since then, this E-Type has covered only 200 miles. The bodywork will need some attention, but the extensive work that has been done on this very desirable Series 1 over the past 30 years has made it a particularly interesting car, an opportunity to realize a dream that most collectors have.
