The E-Type features inch-perfect lines combined with some of the best engines in the business. First launched in 1961, it was designed to be both aerodynamic and beautiful which goes to prove the engineering adage that if it looks right, then it probably is. Initially offered with the gorgeous 3.8-litre, straight-six engine, its capacity grew to 4.2 litres in 1964. The changes also included bigger disc brakes and an all-synchromesh gearbox. The so-called 1.5 Series cars arrived in 1967 with the main changes that the headlights now lacked the Perspex covers of the first cars and featured twin Stromberg carburettors.
This fine-looking, UK-delivered example, presented in Old English White with a contrasting black leather interior, has been stripped back to bare metal and repainted in recent years at the behest of the previous owner. He then sold the car to the vendor who has kept it good order and in dry conditions. In addition to the new paintwork, it benefits from a brand new interior in wonderful condition complete with West of England cloth headlining. In addition to the exterior work, the engine and gearbox has also been rebuilt by specialists, Pogens Engineering in Wales. The chrome wire wheels are in good order setting the classic lines off well and are beautifully shod, as they are, in good quality and practically unused Vredestein 185SRx15 tyres. Also included is an engine workshop manual, some additional history and a number of spares including an additional central dash unit. Well presented, in good condition and sensibly priced, certainly worthy of further consideration.
