Description
Chassis No. 877082
Engine No. R 4313-9
Body No. R 3565
This early covered headlight E-Type was manufactured on 11 April 1962 and dispatched later that month on the 27 to Dr. Harry Paul Ross of Maryland, United States, commencing a 56-year span of family ownership. After three decades of enjoyment, the car was refinished in its originally specified Opalescent Gunmetal in the early 1990s, while the interior was reupholstered with new Red leather. Following the completion of the restorative work, the Ross family's E-Type became limited until the car was placed in storage, with the restoration being so exacting that they chose to preserve the car rather than subject the classic to regular use.
In late 2017, the car was removed from storage to prepare it for sale for the first time since it was acquired by Dr. Ross in 1962. This work included a complete overhaul of the fuel system, a rebuild of the carburetors, a cooling system flush, a braking system rebuild, and brake and clutch master cylinder replacement. Offered for sale for the first time in 56 years, the car was acquired by its second owner in 2018. Today, the car remains a beloved example that is furnished with a digital copy of the original Maryland title and its Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate.
