Itala was founded in 1903 by Bigio, an engineer from Turin, at a time when many small manufacturers were trying to offer cars different from the competition.
Although Itala is not very well known today, the manufacturer had great success before the First World War on Italian soil, even coming to rank just behind Fiat in the 1910s.
The DNA of the brand is competition and Itala will very quickly add up the victories, notably in Brescia, the Targa Florio or even during great Raids for advertising purposes, demonstrating the robustness and reliability of the different models.
Different engines will be installed in the Itala: De Dion engines and 4 cylinders of 5.0L and 8.0L.
Unfortunately, the manufacturer had to stop its production from 1914 onwards and did not really manage to get back on its feet until it filed for bankruptcy in 1934.
The model we present is an Avalve produced in 1913. Like all its models, it was delivered as a chassis. Its two-seater body and its imposing engine are made for racing.
When you open the hood, you find an astonishing engine with 2 blocks of 2 cylinders each and a single rotary valve per block.
The car is running and has been professionally serviced, the specific water cooled braking system is also functional.
This Itala is a moving tribute to that blessed era of the automobile. With its sporty"" bodywork and accessible driving, it is a beautiful ticket to the world of the ancestors.
