Description
After many years of enjoying this beautiful Grinnall Scorpion III, it is now ready to go to a new owner.
General information:
The Grinnall Scorpion III is not a car and not a motorcycle but something in between. It's actually an inverted tricycle. It was designed in 1991 by Steve Harper who was clearly inspired by the Morgan with two wheels at the front and one at the rear. The Grinnall's engine, gearbox and powertrain are based on BMW technology.
The chassis is a so-called 'space frame' and is designed to be very light but at the same time as safe as possible.
Specific information about this Grinnall:
This Grinnall is from 1998 and was initially delivered in England. In 2013, the Grinnall was imported and registered in the Netherlands.
The special design and the cheerful colour always attract a lot of attention.
It drives fantastic and shifts very smoothly due to the sequential shift program.
Driving this car gives you a 'legal' Formula 1 feeling on the road. But it is also very suitable for wonderful touring.
Technically in fine condition. The paint is good with some signs of wear in places (no dents).
Good to know:
- It weighs 393 kg (empty weight), it is therefore exempt from Dutch periodic inspections
- Road tax at motorcycle rate (in the Netherlands)
- It has a car registration and can be driven with a B permit and no
helmet obligation.
