Description
Chassis No. 1FAFP47H9YF223242
Built by Ford's Special Vehicle Team (SVT), the 2000 SVT Cobra R continued the tradition of creating the ultimate Mustang after a five-year hiatus. The heart of this project was the dual-overhead-camshaft 5.4-liter V8 with four valves per cylinder rated at a zesty 385 horsepower and a substantial 385 lb-ft of torque. This was aided by the use of a "trumpet-style" intake manifold to feed more aggressive cam profiles. At the same time, short tube headers went through a Bassani X-pipe before exiting the car through a unique Borla dual side-exiting exhaust system. This was housed in a taller "power dome" hood with additional vents to aid in cooling. Mated to a heavy-duty Borg-Warner T-56 six-speed manual transmission, power is directed to the large 18x9.5-inch rear wheels via a Gerodisc hydro-mechanical limited-slip differential. Handling was improved with Eibach springs, lowering the car by 1.5 inches in the front and one inch in the rear, and heavy-duty monotube Bilstein front racing struts and rear shocks. Reining this power in are high-performance Brembo four-piston front calipers with impressive 13-inch vented rotors. Safety and on-track performance were improved with a 21-gallon fuel cell feeding the engine through a high-capacity fuel pump.
Assembled at the Dearborn Assembly Plant in March 2000, this Cobra R is one of just 300 produced for the 2000 model year. Finished in Performance Red Clearcoat over Charcoal cloth Recaro seats, this car remains in superb condition today retaining its clear plastic seat protection bags and rearview mirror airbag hang tag. Having covered only 1,410 miles at the time of cataloging, the car is offered with a Marti Report and a clean CARFAX Vehicle History Report.
