● One of Ford’s Hottest Muscle Cars

The Model: If 1966 was good for a totally redesigned Fairlane series, 1967 was even better especially as the reputation of these cars grew as a force few want to try and best. A total of 13 model offerings were field under the Fairlane series this year but by far the most popular were the basic Fairlane 500’s with the two-door hardtop seeing a total of 70,135 examples coming off the assembly line and making the most popular model in the entire Fairlane family. While most buyers opted for tame editions of these cars, a performance minded buyer could still get a big-block V8 under the hood, as well as other enhancements to the ability of these cars to get up and lay rubber. Today this generation of the Fairlane is extremely popular with collectors, but purists and those who like to mixitup a little bit.

The Car: To say that this car is more than a built Fairlane would be an understatement. It is a rolling work of art and with all the right component starting with the engine. Using a 351 cid Windsor V8 as a base it was stroked out to 392 cubic inches with an estimate horsepower rating of 350+. It is backed up by an Automatic/Overdrive connected to a Lokar black out floor mounted shifter. Power is transferred to the 3.08 gears in the 8” rear –end, and helping to stop the car are disc brakes up front and drums to the rear. A Flowmaster 50 Series system takes care of the exhaust and the engine is fitted with a March pulley setup. Gas if fed through a 780 cfm 4barrel that is complimented with a Mallory ignition system. An honest performance vehicle, this proved the “F” in Ford means “fun”.
