The Ford Escort Mk. II RS2000, was produced from 1975 to 1980, and is a legendary rally car that has become an icon in motorsport history. Renowned for its performance and handling, the RS2000 was powered by a 2.0-litre engine, generating around 115 bhp and allowing for impressive acceleration and agility on both roads and rally stages. Its distinctive styling makes it a standout model in the Escort lineup and a firm favourite for Ford collectors. Weighing in at just over 900 kg, the Mk. II RS2000 benefitted from a lightweight construction, paired with a sport-tuned suspension that enhanced its cornering ability. The car enjoyed considerable success in motorsport, contributing to Ford's dominance in rallying during the late '70s.
Here we have a stunning Ford Escort Mk. II RS2000, which was imported from Finland in 2015 after undergoing a restoration to an excellent standard. This eye-catching example is presented in a vibrant orange, transformed into a tribute to Mario Ketterer's Jaegermeister liveried race car. The livery suits the car's sporty demeanour perfectly, yet it can be easily removed if the new owner prefers a different look. This RS2000 has had a full engine rebuild by our vendor, who has a vast amount of experience in restoration and engine building. With a fully equipped workshop at his disposal. The overall condition of this RS2000 is absolutely superb, showcasing the quality of the restoration and careful upkeep over the years. Additionally, it offers excellent value compared to equivalent right hand drive models available in the UK. The interior was retrimmed by Aldridge trimmers in 2017 and is also in excellent condition. Supplied to auction with a V5C registration document, MoT test certificate valid until June 2024 and a history file containing some original Finnish documents and various invoices for works carried out since the car's arrival in the UK.
