Description
"The Ford Capri was manufactured from 1969 through to 1986. It was designed by American, Philip T. Clark, who was famous for being one of the main designers of the Ford Mustang. Using the mechanical components from the Cortina and intended as the European equivalent of the Mustang for the European markets, the Capri went on to be a highly successful car for Ford and sold nearly 1.9 million units in its lifetime. A wide variety of engines were used in the Capri, throughout its production lifespan, which most notably included the Essex and Cologne V6 engines at the top of the range, whilst the Kent straight-four and Pinto engines were used in lower specification models. Although the Capri was not officially replaced by any Ford model, the second-generation Probe was effectively its replacement after the later car's introduction to the European market in 1992.
Supplied by Maidenhead Autos on 8th August 1980, this Capri 3.0S has only had two owners from new, the first owner keeping the car for 33 years. The Solar Gold coachwork is in very good order as is the chocolate brown interior. During our inspection the V6 Essex engine burst into life immediately with a familiar deep tone from the exhaust system. Forming part of a private collection, we are advised this Capri drives with no known faults, the manual gearbox operating smoothly and efficiently through the gears. Supplied with the original handbooks, a V5C registration document and a current MoT test certificate valid until 17th February 2020 (with no advisories). This car is simply made to drive and enjoy but equally just to look at and admire. It is without doubt a classic machine.
