The Fiat Punto S1600 is a rally car built by Fiat Auto Spa, to participate in the Italian Rally Championship, in which it raced from 2000 to 2004, and in the Junior World Rally Championship in 2005. The Fiat Punto S1600 was built in 1999, initially for wealthy private customers. The base was the Fiat Punto HGT, from which derives the 1800 cc engine, reduced to 1600, managing to develop 215 hp at 8250 rpm with a six-speed sequential gearbox.
Following the great success achieved and in parallel with the creation of the Junior World Rally Championship, which included the participation of drivers under the age of 28, it was homologated in Group A S1600 with the number A 5609 02/01 VK in the Kit Cars category, and with the number A 5609 09/01 KS in the S1600 category.
At the debut in Spain, the car, driven by Massimo Macaluso, was forced to retire due to a mechanical problem. Luca Pedersoli managed to win the Sanremo rally in the same year. In the following season Andrea Dallavilla, after a series of podiums and a victory, came second in the drivers' general classification only behind Sebastian Loeb.
In 2003 Paolo Andreucci, together with co-driver Anna Andreussi, won the Italian Rally Championship and in 2004, the Italian Super 1600 Championship.
